Hi, I’m Leslie!

Welcome to my journey of recovery and resilience.

At the age of 18, I was introduced to Klonopin for anxiety and panic attacks; marking the beginning of a decade-long relationship with various psychotropic medications. Alongside Klonopin, my life became intertwined with Xanax, Ativan, Effexor, Fluoxetine, and Seroquel. Klonopin was my constant companion, providing a "just in case" sense of security. Whether it was for school, social events, driving, work, or even hiking, I always had a Benzo with me to help manage my anxiety and emotions.

My doctor reassured me that these medications were necessary for my well-being, comparing their use to a diabetic needing insulin. However, what I wasn't told was the harsh reality of withdrawal. The physical and emotional challenges, the terrifying reality of Benzo withdrawal symptoms, and the stories of individuals who had lost their lives trying to break free from these drugs were unknown to me.

In 2019, I embarked on the most challenging journey of my life: the battle with detoxification and withdrawal of Klonopin. At that time, I was taking 10mg a day just to feel normal. It was a grueling process filled with moments of doubt and pain, but it was also a journey of self-discovery and strength. Through this struggle, I learned the true meaning of resilience, acceptance, and the importance of self-love.

Fast forward to today, I am completely off of Benzodiazepines, I have my mind and my health back. It took 3+ years to fully taper down, but I have successfully gotten off all psychotropic medication and feel mentally stable and grounded for the first time since I was 18. I am in grad school, pursuing a clinical mental health counseling degree to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2026 to hopefully help others like myself who deal with mental health challenges.

This website is dedicated to sharing my story, raising awareness about the dangers of psychotropic drug dependency, and offering support to those who are on their own paths to recovery and support for anxiety in general. Together, we can navigate the complexities of fear, Benzodiazepine withdrawal, and we can together find hope and healing on the other side.

My Approach

Welcome to a space dedicated to understanding and healing.

Whether you’re dealing with generalized anxiety, social phobias, specific performance anxiety, or seeking support for Benzodiazepine dependency, my approach is rooted in a blend of Existential theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic practices, and polyvagal theory. This comprehensive and integrative method allows me to support you wherever you are on your journey.

I believe that each client is unique, with their own story and set of experiences. Therefore, I tailor my approach to meet you where you are on your path. By combining these diverse theories, I aim to provide a holistic and personalized experience that addresses your specific needs and fosters genuine healing and growth.

Existential Theory

This approach helps you explore the fundamental questions of life and your personal existence. By delving into these existential concerns, we can uncover deeper meanings and find ways to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and purpose.

ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

ACT encourages you to accept your thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. By committing to actions that align with your values, ACT helps you create a meaningful life while managing the pain that inevitably comes with it.

Somatic Practices

Our bodies hold onto experiences and emotions. Through somatic practices, we work to release these physical manifestations of stress and trauma, helping you achieve a state of balance and well-being.

POLYVAGAL THEORY

Understanding the role of the nervous system in your emotional and physiological responses is crucial. Polyvagal theory provides insights into how your body reacts to stress and offers techniques to enhance your sense of safety and social connection.

Together, we will navigate your unique journey towards healing, ensuring that every step is tailored to support you in achieving your goals and living a fulfilling life.
